About FB+ Training

What you need to be able to do is share your deep connection and love of trees and the natural world with others. The more awareness you have of your feelings, the easier it will be to guide others to a similar space. Therefore we don’t have a specific criteria but are looking for people who are ready for this type of self-development.  It is likely that you will have experience of working in therapy, yoga, nature/conservation work, teaching or mindfulness but it really depends on each individual.  Why don’t you hear from our current guides for more insight.

Our upcoming course dates can be found in our training section.

Our FB+ programme is made up of two modules, each module on its own takes approximately 6 months to complete ( this length of time is required to carry out the training and required volunteer studies).

Often our trainees will overlap the modules and so the average time taken to complete both modules is around 8 months.  However, we are flexible about the exact timing as everyone’s commitments are different, all we ask is that the training is complete within 2 years.

Find out more about our FB+ course here.

We are often asked this question by people who have already trained in or practice mindfulness and meditation.

We will happily consider whether the training you have already will give you the mindfulness and meditation skills you need for our FB+ programme.  The way we usually do this is check our syllabus against the training you have already done.

Please provide as much information about your experience in your application form.

We will assess each case individually.  To find out what we cover in Module 1 open the course PDF here.

Our aim is that no-one with suitable experience who is committed to being a FB+ guide is prevented due to challenging financial circumstances. While we do not offer subsidies we do have an option of either a monthly payment plan or deferred payment for those in exceptional circumstances.  We are always happy to discuss this option with you and work out which best meets your individual circumstances. We treat each case sensitively on an individual basis and are committed to inclusivity.

We have three training locations, two in England and one in Wales. We already have a number of international students. The majority of the training can be conducted online. You will be required to attend the four day practical element of the FB+ course.

Our online course are run live via Zoom,  so require a good internet connection.

We are in the process of rolling out our training to other parts of the country. Find out about our upcoming courses in our training section.

Watch this space!  We are designing a short induction course for people who want to self lead and maybe introduce their family or children to forest bathing but do not want to run paid for sessions.

If you would like to know when this course is ready sign up for our newsletter as new courses will be announced there.

We do allow students to request a change of course date with conditions.  Please see details of our course terms and conditions here.

As a qualified FB+ guide you can set up and run your own Forest Bathing+ sessions for the public.

If it feels like a good fit, you may be invited to join TFBI’s team and run events for the Institute. TFBI is rapidly expanding both the range of locations it offers FB+ in as well as its NHS, social prescribing and government vulnerable person programmes – we need dedicated, caring guides who share our ethos and want to contribute to the Institute’s development.

You may wish to further boost your guiding skills by completing further courses in complementary areas. For example, completing a Mental Health First Aid course may enable you to work with a wider range of individuals (e.g. if you want to work with vulnerable groups or as part of NHS/government-funded programmes).
