Forest Bathing+ Presentation to Frimley Park Hospital

On Friday 24th May 2019 The Forest Bathing Institute gave a 30-minute presentation of the ideas, benefits and current research behind Forest Bathing+ to over 40 doctors. The subsequent feedback forms mainly rated various aspects of the presentation, including ‘relevance’, 4.5-5, out of a possible 5.

Thinking it might be a ‘tough gig’, Gary Evans was prepared for lots of questions, but received none, just sporadic nods of agreement throughout the presentation. As one doctor responded, times are changing, and more doctors are finding mindfulness, yoga, and Tai Chi, in particular, increasingly helpful. We hope that this will give the acceptance of Forest Bathing+ an easier path to general recognition as a preventative therapy; once studies replicating the Japanese science are conducted with the TFBI.

Preliminary data captured in April by the University of Derby and the TFBI on the effects of Forest Bathing+ on Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is minimal. Gary was only able to mention the lead researcher’s comment that it was looking ‘promising’. The responses from the professionals in attendance would seem to suggest that they were not at all surprised by this.

Future blogs will discuss the physiological studies we are running with the University of Derby.
